COD4 Admin Commands

RCON Commands

COD4 uses a system that's very much like F.E.A.R's SCMD. It is called RCON.

To log into rcon, you need to bring up the console. You do this by HOLDING the shift key and pressing the ` key (the tilde key, next to 1 on the keyboard). An important note here, if you do not hold shift to expand the console, you will NOT be able to see any information bar the command line. So if you don't hold shift and you list the clients, you won't be able to see the list. To login to rcon you need to type the following into the console: /rcon login adminpasswordhere

Another important thing here is to always make sure you type in the / when using rcon. If you forget the slash and enter the command, you will actually SAY that command in the chat so that EVERYONE can see it. REMEMBER THE /!

Here is a list of all important rcon commands: /rcon map [mapname] (e.g. /rcon map mp_crossfire) - The server will go directly to the map you choose. /rcon map_rotate - Loads the next map in rotation. /rcon map_restart - Restarts the current map. /rcon status - Lists Player info (the same as the listclients command in F.E.A.R) /rcon kick [playername] - Kicks player from server by name. /rcon clientkick [id] - Kicks player from server by client id. /rcon banclient [id] - Bans player from server by client id. This writes the player's GUID to the ban.txt in the COD4 main folder. /rcon tempbanclient [id] - Temporarily bans player from server.

If the console does not display when you press '~', you need to enable it. Do this by going to the game's main menu -> Options -> Game Options... -> Enable Console should say 'Yes'.

Modern RCON

ModernRcon is a CoD4 Rcon Utility which allows server admins to remotely control their game servers. There are a number of different utilities available to download, this is just a quick overview of one of them.

Run Modern Rcon. At the top of the window that pops up, you will see "Quick Connect" with boxes for you to type in the server's IP, etc. In the box marked "Host" type in the server IP - 217.146.84.136. Type the adminpasswordhere in the "Rcon Password" box and 28960 in the box marked "Port". Next to the "Connect" button you will see a little box that says "Save Server" next to it. If you tick this box, Modern Rcon will save these server settings and add the server to a list in this same window so that you don't have to do this everytime you connect to the server. Now hit "Connect". You will now see a new window with various tabs, such as "Players", "Maps", "Console" etc. Here you can remotely view the server's stats and settings and you can also change these at will. For example, if you click on the Punkbuster tab, you will see a list of the current players in the server. You can then tell Punkbuster to kick or ban a player if he's being a naughty boy. You can change maps, say something in the console, etc.

We would ask that you don't change anything in the Basic Settings without letting us know beforehand.
